Annelise Bothma – General Manager – Southern Africa

About me:

After finishing my studies I travelled to the UK for 3 years and saw a bit of Europe which intrigued me into the travel industry. Upon my return to Cape Town I had the opportunity to start at Albatros Travel as the Financial Manager. My family and I love the outdoors and we take every opportunity we have to see another gem of South Africa. We especially love the seaside and the wildlife. I thoroughly enjoy working at Albatros Travel and it gives me great pleasure to be part of the Albatros Family.

About me:

I love to interact with people, especially those from different cultures and races and I love to travel and experience new things. I like to make others happy. It makes me feel good to know I’ve gone the extra mile and I get such satisfaction from making other people’s dreams come true. I have travelled quite a bit around South Africa but my kind of holiday is camping at the sea with my family. I still do everything a tourist does in Cape Town and love going for drives around the mountain and the sea.

Born and bred in a small town in the middle of the Northern Cape the love of South Africa is embedded in my blood. You will fall in love with this beautiful country as soon as you step of the plane and you will want to come back year after year.

Adelle recommends:

The beautiful Cape Town is a must see but what few people realize is that the beauty of KwaZulu Natal is worth a visit. The vast plains in the north, the endless beaches and the rich history will make this a must see destination for anyone.

I work for Albatros as a Staff Coordinator for Danish, Swedish, Norwegian & Finish Tour Leaders doing amazing tours in Africa.

Mia recommends:

Lunch at the picturesque wine farms in Stellenbosch, going to spectacular beaches in Cape Town & being in the bush up in the Kruger area. My best cup of coffee: in a way a terrible instant coffee with powder milk, BUT the sun is just starting to rise, the magnificent sound and smell of the bush, lions roaring in the background & the excitement awaiting just before heading out on a very early game drive!! There is NO place like Africa!

FIT Department

Melanie Nel – Head of Department – FIT

About me:

I was born in Cape Town and have travelled all over South Africa, with visits to the neighbouring countries, Swaziland, Namibia, Zambia and Malawi. Southern Africa has so much to offer to our visitors, from the different cultures, beaches, mountains, wildlife, vast open space, food & wine, etc.

I’m passionate about what I do and love putting together a holiday which was always a dream, but now has become a reality. Receiving great feedback from our clients and who are looking to book their next holiday through Albatros Travel, always puts a huge smile on my face. Happy Travelling!!

Melanie recommends:

There is so much to see and experience in South Africa from the great weather, lovely beaches, different cultures, history, to the wildlife. A visit to South Africa is not the same if not stopping off in Cape Town, with a trip up Table Mountain (one of the 7 Wonders of Nature) or a visit to Robben Island, and ending your holiday with a safari to spot the Big 5. And don’t forget the red dunes, salt pans, deadvlei and the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, another must when visiting Southern Africa.

Nadine de Lange – Tour Consultant

About me:

I was not born but bred in Cape Town and even though my ancestry lies in the Eastern Cape, I do consider myself a Capetonian through and through. As a child I remember taking road trips every June and December holidays to visit the family in East London. I think that this is where my love of travel stems from. As a South African I am privileged to be able to engage with locals of many different cultures as well. I love travelling and finding hidden gems in South Africa. I really enjoy turning people’s holiday dreams into a reality. I would describe my perfect holiday as a road trip on the famous Garden Route. It is nice to experience Cape Town in the overseas traveler’s eye and even though I was born in Cape Town, I am still amazed at the magnificent view of Table Mountain on a cloudless day.

Nadine recommends:

You will love this unique safari to Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia, with Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park, including an exclusive safari cruise on the Chobe River.

Marketing Department

Zandiswa Copiso – Marketing Assistant

About me:

During my Public Relations Management studies, I had an opportunity to work in the Travel and Leisure industry which exposed me to local and international influencers as well as travellers all over the world. With my personality, I was able to interact with every individual from different countries with ease. So I decided to focus in tourism even after my Bachelors Degree. Living in Mother City and being surrounded by iconic attractions and beautiful beaches is envy to everyone living outside the Western Cape especially in the inland regions.

Zandiswa recommends:

I would recommend Garden route to the Eastern Cape. It is a beautiful scenery to witness Western Cape and its nature, the Karoo and to also partake on every activity that the journey offers e.g Cango Caves, Tsitsikamma, Knysna cruise and Port Elizabeth.

General Manager

Julian Camm – Africa Sales & Marketing Director – East Africa

About me:

I was born in Ghana, West Africa, before moving to the UK for my education. I moved to Tanzania in February 1999 to work for one of the larger safari companies here, reaching the position of General Manager. In September 2007 I joined Albatros Travel as the East Africa General Manager and have enjoyed the more personalised service that we give to each client that travels with us. With Jennie joining the fold, I have shifted my attention to promoting travel to Africa with Albatros.

Julian recommends:

Tanzania really is a land of extremes, with Africa’s highest mountain, its deepest lake, its largest lake, the largest game reserve in the world and the largest mammal migration – all in one country that gives 25% of its land mass to conservation. There really is so much on offer in terms wildlife viewing, adventure safari, exotic beaches. However for those that can, I think a trip to Katavi, a true wilderness area and Mahale, for the amazing experience of being in the presence of Chimpanzees, is one of the most special experiences in Tanzania. For the more energetic I really think a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro is an experience of a lifetime. It is an incredibly scenic climb taking you through 5 distinct ecological zones and there is nothing more rewarding than reaching the roof of Africa!

Jennie Camm – General Manager – East Africa

About me:

I was born and raised in Scotland. I moved to Kenya in July 2002 to work for a camp in the Masai Mara. A year later I joined the Albatros Kenya office before then moving to Tanzania to work with the team there. I left Albatros in 2006 but returned in January 2016 as the East Africa General Manager.

Jennie Recommends

The quality and diversity of the game in East Africa makes it difficult to recommend just the one place to visit. With much improved Airline routings, between the various countries, its now possible to take in the wonder that is the Rwanda Gorilla experience, to then effortlessly link into the great plains of the Masai Mara & Serengeti by air before continuing onto Pemba Island, just off Zanzibar for some much needed R&R.

Seema Menon – Finance Manager

About me:

I was born India where I studied and acquired my Accountancy degree. I moved to Tanzania and joined Albatros Travel in 2004. It’s been an incredible journey of over 10 years in this organization, where each day is new and challenging.

Seema recommends:

Albatros has always been renowned for organising tailor made safaris for individuals and organising special interest safaris, however one set tour that has sold well, has been our Tanzania Trails, which takes you on a driving safari with one of our well trained guides through the Northern Circuit of Tanzania staying in some of the smaller and more personalised properties. It is a classic Tanzania safari at incredible value for money.

Juliet Samaka – Sales & Marketing Consultant

About me:

I joined the Tourism Industry in 2003 and have had the great privilege of travelling all over Tanzania’s amazing wilderness areas and visiting the exotic beaches of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia. It therefore gives me such joy to be able to introduce this amazing country to all our guests that arrive here and I hope to be able to encourage more people to come and visit my country. I joined Albatros in 2007 and have hade the opportunity to travel to some of the trade shows giving me a first hand opportunity introduce and show off Tanzania.

Juliet recommends:

There is so much to recommend in Tanzania, but I feel the Southern Circuit of Tanzania; Selous and Ruaha, offers a more wild and exclusive game experience, as well as giving clients a more diverse game viewing experience; with walking safaris, boat safaris, night game drives and fly camping safaris and not forgetting the best place to see the endangered African Wild Dogs. I also feel that Zanzibar is a must in any trip to Tanzania, as it is the perfect place to unwind after an exciting safari.

Kheri Patrick – Sales Consultant

About me:

I have been selling Tanzania since 1997. I joined Albatros in 2007 after many years with one of the larger safari companies in Tanzania and what I really enjoy is having the freedom to design a safari that matches the client’s wishes.

Gideon recommends:

The safaris that I really enjoy creating are those that involve some kind of special interest, be it farming, cultural, or archaeological, however I always feel that every safari must include the Serengeti and where possible in an area that allows you to get the chance to experience the sheer volume of thousands and thousands of wildebeest surrounding your safari vehicle and going on as far as the eye can see.

Helen Laizer – Sales Consultant

About me:

I was born in Arusha, the hub of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. I have been in tourism since 2004 and joined Albatros in the beginning of 2010. I have really enjoyed designing safaris for people and seeing them so happy after their safari that they want to come back.

Helen recommends:

The two most amazing safari experiences I have had are firstly being in Southern Serengeti in March and seeing the incredible numbers of wildebeest in one area, so many you couldn’t even start to count them! My second was in Mahale with the Chimpanzees and seeing the whole family group all around us. I also try and convince people to visit Stone Town when they go to Zanzibar and not just the beach, as it has so much history and it is fantastic walking through all the narrow streets.

Emmanuel Munisi – Sales Consultant

About me:

I live in Arusha with my wife and two sons. Despite completing my University degree in Engineering, I was drawn towards the travel industry, probably being influenced by my father, who was a safari guide. I have worked in the tourism industry since 2005 in a couple of the larger safari companies in Arusha, until joining Albatros. I am the new kid on the block, having joined in March 2017, but immediately felt like part of a special team.

Emmanuel recommends:

With so much to offer in Tanzania it is quite tough to be specific. However, when designing an itinerary I try and incorporate Tarangire National Park, as it is often missed, which is a shame as it delivers in so many ways. I like to incorporate diversity in my itineraries, including active elements as well as cultural experiences, such as Lake Eyasi with the Hadzabe tribe, or Lake Natron with an authentic Masai experience.
